Launstein Imagery

John, Jenaya and Josiah Launstein are part of a family of internationally awarded wildlife and conservation photographers and artists from the Pincher Creek area in Southwestern Alberta. Their work has been exhibited in more than 70 countries in national museums and galleries including the Smithsonian in Washington, DC and the Natural History Museum in London, UK.

The Launsteins’ oldest daugher Jenaya became only the second young woman to be named the international Youth Photographer of the Year at the age of 15 and her younger brother Josiah is clearly following in her footsteps! By age 13 he has twice been named the Young Outdoor Photographer of the Year and was the only Canadian photographer of any age awarded in the 2017 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

They are delighted to share their love of wild animals and wild places with fellow nature and art lovers through their Fine Art Limited Edition & Open Edition Prints, calendars and greeting cards and are honoured to have their wok being sought after by collectors around the world. The family opened the Launstein Imagery Wildlife Art Gallery in 2016 in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass in Southwest Alberta.

A quote by Jenaya accompanying her work in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History sums up the family’s passion for what they do; “I hope my pictures help people care more about the animals I have the privilege of photographing.”

Kyla Jayne Photography

Kyla Gent (nee Brown) is a local freelance photographer, artist and writer. A graduate of Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, Kyla completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography in 2003 and started her photography business Kyla Brown Photography (now Kyla Jayne Photography). As an innovative and creative artist, she enjoys traveling and finding inspiration for her artistic creations along the way. Kyla invites her camera to become an extension of her eye as she connects and celebrates the world before her.

In addition to her photographic work, Kyla is also passionate about automatic writing and drawing where she explores her creativity joyfully. ‘Lucent Imagery’ a line that takes her creativity into new and creative realms with her writing and personal artwork. This line brings Kyla’s journal drawings and writings out into the world where she sets them free.

“My intention with this work is to share it with others… I see each piece as a thread that offers a connection.
A place where you might share a moment and feel a stirring that touches or inspires you. I believe that art is an opportunity to awaken. I hope that when you look at my work you see something of your own life, your own history and walk away trusting the profound discovery of every moment…”
