About Us

Village Arts mission is to seek marketable Canadian craft which has a strong personal style and consistently high quality. Handcrafted excellence created especially for you.

“We Work on Each Others Behalf”

Village Arts is the East Kootenays’ premiere fine craft store celebrating over twenty years of creative and retail success. Village Arts celebrated its twentieth anniversary in May 2003. For several years the store had been bursting at the seams so in January 2004, Village Arts relocated to its present space through the combined effort of the entire membership. We are located in a bright, spacious heritage building on Main Street in downtown Invermere.

We were founded in 1983 by several local artists and craftspeople to maintain a permanent marketplace for high quality arts and crafts in the Columbia Valley. The organization is non profit and self supporting through a commission structure. A Board of Directors, elected by the membership at the annual general meeting, oversees the day to day operation of the Society. The store is staffed by working members.

The crafts of over forty five western artisans are featured in the store. Several distinct potters create in earthenware, raku and porcelain. Colorful jewelry is made from lampwork and fused glass, local gems set into rings and pendants, and original designs in silver. Enjoy wearable art in the form of hats, scarves, shawls and bags made from a variety of fibers from fleece to silk. Decorate your home with photographs of our spectacular scenery and wildlife, ornamented picture frames and mirrors, blown glass, or pillows made from organic cotton. Collect fine art from paintings to sculptures and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife photography.

Village Arts has beautiful handcrafted items suitable for every occasion and budget.
